What are dentures?
Dentures are sets of replacement teeth that fit over your gums. They restore your natural smile when you have few or no natural teeth. Dentures can boost your confidence and make it easier to talk and eat.
Miracle Dental provides custom-made dentures. The teeth fit into a plastic base that matches the color of your gums, so no one will notice that they’re prosthetic.
Other options are available, too. One of these is implant-supported dentures, a solution where your dentures attach to dental implants (permanent metal posts in your jaw). Another is the All-on-4® or All-on-6® systems, where four or six implants support a complete set of dentures.
What type of dentures do I need?
There are several types of dentures:
Partial dentures
If you still have some original teeth remaining in your smile, partial dentures fit around them to replace only your missing teeth. The replacement teeth on the partial dentures match your existing teeth, so that your smile looks completely natural.
Complete dentures
When you’re missing all of your teeth, complete dentures can fully replace your smile. Dentures that look like your original teeth are selected and custom-made for a perfect fit that improves the appearance of your smile.
What does denture fitting involve?
Once you decide on the type of dentures you want, Dr. Hakim will start by taking impressions of your gums, which will ensure perfectly-fitting dentures.
At the next appointment, you’ll try on the denture model to ensure a perfect fit. When Dr. Hakim is sure that the denture mold is exactly right, he sends it to the dental lab where they will finalize your dentures.
When your new dentures are ready, you’ll return to Miracle Dental to receive them. It could take a while to adapt to the feeling of wearing dentures, but as long as the fit is right, your mouth adjusts until they feel completely natural.
How do I take care of my dentures?
Before you go to sleep, take your dentures out and put them in a denture cleaning solution. Brush your dentures every day using a soft toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleaner before placing them in your mouth. You should also use a soft toothbrush on your gums every day to keep them clean and healthy.
