What are crowns and bridges?

Dental crowns fit over your natural teeth or attach to a dental implant. They provide a realistic substitute for the visible part of a badly damaged or missing tooth.

Dental bridges are a combination of several crowns that are used to replace a missing tooth. Bridges utilize teeth on either side of a gap to support a middle crown that stands in place of the missing tooth.

Miracle Dental creates crowns and bridges made from porcelain or ceramic to mimic the same optimal esthetics of natural teeth.

Why would I need crowns or bridges?

Bridges primarily replace missing teeth, while crowns protect weakened, damaged, or worn teeth. Crowns can also cover teeth that have large fillings, where little of the original tooth remains.

If you have dental implants, you need crowns to complete the procedure. Dental implants are small posts that fuse to your jawbone, creating a new tooth root after you’ve lost a tooth. The crown fits on top of your implant.

Opting for crowns and bridges from Miracle Dental gives you back a natural-looking smile and enables you to speak normally and chew your food more effectively.

What does getting bridges and crowns involve?

To prepare your teeth for crowns and bridges, Dr. Hakim reshapes your natural tooth to make room for the crowns. If there’s not much of the original tooth remaining, he might build up the tooth with a filling material.

If you need crowns to cover existing teeth, Dr. Hakim takes an impression of your teeth that he sends to a dental lab. The lab creates the crown, and you return to Miracle Dental Implants & Orthodontics when it’s ready to be fitted onto your tooth. The procedure for standard bridges is much the same.

If your bridges or crowns will be attached to dental implants, you will need to undergo a procedure where the implants are surgically placed into the jawbone by Dr. Hakim. Once the bone and implant are securely fused, you can return to the office to have the crown or bridge created.
